CHATEAU CLARON is located on the very doorstep of Bordeaux, in the heart of the Graves district. It was here that this prestigious vineyard of Bordeaux first found its place during ancient times. However, the real development of this vineyard only began in the Middle Ages, after the marriage of Eleanor of Aquitaine to the King of England
Not far from Montesquieu's Château at la Brède, Château Claron's history goes back a long way.
Napoleon stopped here on bis way to the Spanish Wars. He and his troops refreshed themselves with wine from barrels, consuming the entire sap in one afternoon !
The ARDURATS family (who have been winegrowers from one generation to the next since the XVIth century) acquired Château Claron at the begining of the XIXth century. Today, Bertrand Ardurats runs the estate and carries on with the family tradition.
